A Kentucky transfer target has reportedly taken a notable step toward taking his talents to Lexington.

Wildcats insider Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio is reporting that Mark Mitchell, who played the past two seasons at Mizzou, has applied to enroll at UK. Mitchell was recently received 2026-27 eligibility and the ability to enter the NCAA transfer portal via a temporary restraining order granted by a Kentucky judge.

It doesn’t guarantee that Mitchell will play basketball for Kentucky, but it’s an important step in the process.

Mitchell was just the second player in Mizzou history to earn All-SEC honors twice since the Tigers joined the conference in 2012. The only MU player to start all 33 games, Mitchell led Mizzou with 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He’s the first Tiger since Albert White in 1998-99 to lead the team in all 3 categories during a single season.
