LSU basketball lands UCLA guard newly eligible for 2026-27

Will Wade has added a productive guard to his 2026-27 roster.

Former UCLA Bruin Donovan Dent has announced his commitment to LSU. Dent is eligible for 2026-27 after having been granted a temporary restraining order by a California court.

Dent, listed at 6-2, 185 pounds on the UCLA roster, is entering Year 5 of his college career. He played his first 3 seasons at New Mexico before transferring to UCLA for the 2025-26 campaign.

As a Bruin, Dent played in all 35 games, starting all but one. He was second on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game. He scored in double figures 26 times, posting 20 or more points in 8 games, nothing a season-high of 30 points against USC on Feb. 24.

Dent also led UCLA in assists with 265 on the season (7.6 per contest). He added 2.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

In 2024-25, his final season at New Mexico, Dent averaged a career-high 20.4 points per game. He has scored 1,865 points over 139 games, giving him a career average of 13.4 points per outing.
