The college basketball season is right around the corner. With that come conference media days. The SEC’s kicks off today, run through tomorrow and gives reporters an opportunity to chat with coaches about the upcoming campaign. Usually, every team makes an appearance. But that won’t be the case in Birmingham this year.

According to ESPN’s Myron Medcalf, LSU‘s men’s and women’s basketball programs won’t be at SEC Media Day. The reason? Inclement weather, which means “dense fog in Baton Rouge,” per ESPN’s Alex Scarborough.

Will Wade returned to Baton Rouge this offseason following two years at McNeese (2023-25) and one season at NC State. He posted a 105-51 record in his first stint at LSU (2017-22), making three NCAA Tournament appearances. His run ended unceremoniously due to recruiting violations, including impermissible payments.

The Tigers were ranked No. 14 in the SEC’s preseason media poll, released on Monday. LSU slotted ahead of only Mississippi State and South Carolina in the rankings.

LSU currently has just 10 players on its basketball roster as it awaits eligibility rulings, most notably for Skyy Clark and RJ Luis Jr. The Tigers host the UCF Knights in an exhibition on Wednesday, then officially open their season vs. New Orleans on Nov. 3.
