Kentucky coach Mark Pope gave an update on star guard Otega Oweh during his media availability on Monday.

Pope revealed that Oweh suffered an ankle injury prior to Kentucky‘s win over Arkansas last week. He said Oweh was limited in practice due to the injury and UK remained “cautious” with his health on Monday.

“He’s actually coming off a little bit of an ankle injury so he didn’t practice a whole lot two days leading up,” Pope said. “We were a little cautious with him today. He’ll be full go tomorrow”

Despite the injury, Oweh still led Kentucky with 24 points in an 85-77 road win over Arkansas on Saturday. Early indications are that he’ll be able to suit up on Wednesday night against Oklahoma — Oweh’s former team — as well.

Oweh is in the midst of a potential all-SEC season for Kentucky. He’s averaging over 16 points and 2.5 assists per game for a Kentucky team that has significant postseason aspiration. The Wildcats are currently 6-3 in conference play and are only two games back of Texas A&M for first place.

Kentucky has dealt with numerous injuries this year, most notably with starting guard Jaland Lowe set to miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Kentucky and Oklahoma will tip off at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday night in Lexington.
