Dennis Gates and the Missouri Tigers added their 6th transfer commitment of the offseason on Saturday, landing a pledge from former Western Carolina guard Cord Stansberry.
Stansberry is entering his 4th season in college basketball next year after his initial season at Pepperdine and 2 seasons with the Catamounts of Western Carolina. During his junior season Stansberry averaged 14.1 points, 4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, serving as the primary scoring option for a down WCU offense.
Given the talent Gates has already added to the roster, Stansberry’s commitment is almost certainly a depth move. The new Tigers shooting guard wasn’t the most efficient scorer with Western Carolina, averaging 35.9% from the field and 30% from 3. Despite this, he had some good games against power conference competition, including a 23-point outing against Cincinnati to start last season.
Missouri has so far added 6 transfers to its 2026-27 roster, including BYU’s Kennard Davis, Tennessee’s Jaylen Carey, Kansas’ Bryson Tiller, South Dakota’s Jordan Crawford and Providence’s Jamier Jones. On top of that, Missouri has one of the best freshman classes in the country, headlined by 5-star guard prospect Jason Crowe Jr. — the No. 5 overall prospect in the Class of 2026.
