Nate Oats comments on Aden Holloway’s future with Alabama basketball
Alabama coach Nate Oats addressed the future of guard Aden Holloway on Wednesday morning.
Holloway has been away from the team since early March when he was arrested for felony drug possession. As a result of that arrest, Holloway did not play for the Crimson Tide during their run to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
However, Oats told AL.com’s Nick Kelly that Holloway could return to Alabama for the 2026-27 season once the “legal process plays out.” Oats added that Alabama still has a vacant scholarship for the upcoming season.
Holloway was an impactful player for the Crimson Tide in 2025-26. He averaged almost 17 points per game, a career-high, and also contributed nearly 4 assists per contest. He remained highly-productive even as Labaron Philon enjoyed a breakout season.

If Holloway is able to return to Alabama next season, it would be a boost for the Crimson Tide. He figures to be one of the best senior guards in the country if available.
Alabama has added 4 transfer commits already this offseason, although none are in the back court. Oats and his staff did sign a pair of 4-star guards out of high school in Qayden Samuels and Tarris Bouie.
With or without Holloway, Alabama will be hoping to contend for another SEC title and get back to the Final Four next season.
