NBA assistant coach emerges as ‘leading candidate’ for FSU job, per report
Florida State is closing in on its next men’s basketball head coach.
According to a report from ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, Luke Loucks has “emerged as the leading candidate” for the role. Loucks would succeed Leonard Hamilton, who has been at the helm in Tallahassee for over 2 decades.

Loucks is currently an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings. He was previously on Steve Kerr’s staff with the Golden State Warriors from 2016-21 and was a part of 2 NBA Championship-winning teams with the Warriors. He’s been with the Kings since 2022.
Loucks is a former Florida State player who was a 4-year contributor under Hamilton from 2008-12. As a junior, Loucks came off the bench for a FSU team that reached the Sweet 16 as a 10-seed back in 2011. The next season, Loucks was a starter as the Noles earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament — still tied for the best seed in program history. The Noles also won the ACC Tournament title back in 2012.
Per Adelson’s reporting, the 2 parties are expected to finalize a deal this weekend. Florida State will battle SMU at home on Saturday before heading to the ACC Tournament.
