Otega Oweh and the Kentucky Wildcats were in big trouble on Wednesday night, as they were trailing LSU on the road 38-22 at the half. However, the team came all the way back, as Malachi Moreno hit a shot at the buzzer to get the 75-74 win.

Oweh took over in the second half, as he scored 18 of his 21 points in the final 20 minutes to help fuel the comeback. For Oweh, that was the fourth straight SEC game that he scored 20+ points, which is something a Kentucky player hasn’t done since Jodie Meeks did it in 2008-2009.

The Wildcats had big expectations entering the season, and thus far they haven’t had the success fans in Lexington have expected. A loss at LSU could have been the type of loss that truly derailed a season. However, getting that comeback victory is also the type of win that could jumpstart a season.

For Kentucky to get things rolling in a tough SEC, the Wildcats are going to need Oweh to continue to play at an All-SEC and potentially All-American type of level. Oweh will look to extend that scoring streak to five games when the Wildcats travel to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers.
