When March Madness arrives, the big names will take over. We’ll have Ian Eagle on the mic alongside the legendary Bill Raftery and Grant Hill. We’ll hear the always incredible Kevin Harlan and the great Brad Nessler.

But during some mid-major conference tournaments, we’re still in the realm of the student radio broadcasters. And that’s a great thing.

The Big South Tournament championship provided an incredible moment in broadcasting on Sunday. High Point, the No. 1 seed, was down 45-33 to No. 3 seed Winthrop. What happened next was an insane 24-2 run by the Panthers, who went on to earn a comfortable 81-69 victory and a spot in the big dance.

The reaction of the student broadcasters below is what March is all about:

High Point ranks No. 83 in the nation, per KenPom. This is better than a 16-seed in March Madness. The Panthers have already provided some magic this March. We’ll see if more upsets await. And if High Point does create some more madness, we can only hope these student broadcasters are on the call.

Selection Sunday is this Sunday (March 16). We’ll see where High Point ends up in the bracket and if they’ll be in position to pull off a Round 1 upset.
