Tennessee adds VCU transfer big man via portal

Rick Barnes and his staff have picked up another piece from the portal for Tennessee‘s 2026-27 roster.
Christian Fermin is the newest commitment to the Volunteers. The 6-10 big man heads to Rocky Top from VCU.

Fermin, listed at 6-10, 225 pounds, will be a senior in the 2026-27. He spent the 4 previous seasons at VCU.

In 2023-24, Fermin was a starter in all 38 games. He averaged 5.2 points and 4 rebounds over 21.4 minutes per game that season.
As a junior, Fermin played in 34 games for the Rams, but made just 11 starts. Though hhe made fewer starts, his playing time was similar at 19.4 minutes per game, and have averaged 4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.
In 2025-26, Fermin appeared in just 4 games before leaving the team due to what was described as a personal matter. He took a redshirt for the season, extending his career to 2026-27.
