After playing 2 seasons with the Texas Longhorns, 5th-year point guard Jordan Pope is set to play his final season of college basketball with the Texas A&M Aggies.

The former Longhorns point guard committed to Bucky McMillan and the Aggies on Monday after receiving a final season of eligibility from the Colorado preliminary injunction in early August. The NCAA is fighting this ruling, but for now Pope is eligible to play in 2026-27 and he’ll be doing so in College Station.

Pope’s addition is an important one for Texas A&M’s guard rotation, especially from a depth perspective. It’s also just a good thing for Texas A&M to add even more experience to a backcourt that also includes PJ Haggerty and McNeese transfer Tyshawn Archie.

Pope will battle with LSU transfer Jalen Reece for the Aggies’ starting point guard position after running Texas’ offense in 2025-26. While Reece has a higher assist rate, Pope is more experienced and a better shooter — though neither were particularly efficient last season.

Crucially, Pope averaged 36% from 3 on 226 attempts compared to 29% from Reece on 77 attempts. Considering Bucky McMillan’s offense emphasized the 3-ball, you can expect a veteran Pope to see the court plenty in College Station.
