Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan earned a big win on the recruiting trail on Thursday afternoon.
The Aggies have reportedly landed a commitment from 4-star guard Chase Richardson. On3’s Joe Tipton was first to share that news, noting that Texas A&M beat out programs like Purdue and Virginia for Richardson’s pledge.
Richardson is a Lone Star State product. He attends Friendswood High School in Friendswood, Texas. He’s listed at 6-foot-1, 174 pounds.

Although he may be undersized, Richardson is regarded as an elite high school basketball prospect. A 4-star recruit, Richardson is currently ranked as the No. 79 overall player and the No. 17 point guard in the country per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 4 prospect from the state of Texas.
Richardson is Texas A&M’s first commit in the class of 2027. McMillan and his staff have been aggressively adding talent to their 2026 roster in recent weeks. The Aggies currently have the No. 10 transfer class for the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Texas A&M will be entering next season with high expectations after reaching the NCAA Tournament in Year 1 under McMillan.
