Todd Golden and Florida will have Boogie Fland in the fold as they look for a second straight national championship. But the former 5-star recruit will need to first heal up from an offseason injury that shouldn’t affect him for too long.
Golden, on Thursday, revealed that the Arkansas transfer had to go into surgery on July 3 after suffering a sports hernia, according to the AP’s Mark Long. Per Long, Fland should be ready to go by the time the Gators’ fall camp begins.
The 2024-25 season ended with the Gators defeating Houston, 65-63, to win the program’s fifth national championship and first since 2014. They ultimately lost their top three scorers — Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard — to graduation.
Golden worked the portal to add 2-time first-team Ivy League performer Xaivian Lee (Princeton) and former freshman All-MAC player AJ Brown (Ohio) to the team. But his biggest get by far was Fland, who averaged 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game for Arkansas as a freshman. He missed over 2 months after suffering a torn ligament in his thumb, but returned for the NCAA Tournament.
Fland and the incoming transfer class will join a pair of freshmen in forward CJ Ingram and guard Alex Lloyd, while Alex Condon, who initially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, will return for his junior season.
