Todd Golden has had an exciting last few weeks.
On April 8, Golden led Florida to the program’s 3rd national championship and 1st since 2007. On Tuesday, he was in Chicago for the NBA Draft Combine, where 3 of his players were invited: Alex Condon, Alijah Martin, and Walter Clayton.
Golden’s trip to the Windy City wasn’t without a stop at iconic Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs faced off against the Miami Marlins. Before the game, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch — after a Gator Chomp, of course.
The pitch itself? Not the worst in the world, although it just missed the zone. Take a look below as college basketball insider Jeff Goodman was on hand:
Golden will soon be back at work as he looks to lead the Gators to back-to-back titles, matching the feat former Gators head coach Billy Donovan achieved in 2006 and 2007.
Of immediate interest, though, is the performance of his former players at the Draft Combine. While Clayton is projected as a late 1st-round pick, Martin is projected as landing anywhere from the late 2nd round to going undrafted.
Meanwhile, while Condon has declared for the draft, he’s retained his eligibility, leaving the door open for a return.
