Four-star forward Ethan Mgbako has committed to play at Vanderbilt.

The blue-chipper from Virginia announced his commitment to the Commodores live on CBS Sports’ YouTube page on Thursday. Mgbako is ranked as the No. 65 overall player in the 2026 class by 247Sports Composite.

Mgbako picked Vandy over several other offers he held, such as Georgetown, LSU, Pitt, and Texas A&M. He is a 6-6, 215-pound wing that is currently playing at high school powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. He is also the younger brother of current Texas A&M forward Mackenzie Mgbako.

Mgbako is the first player to commit to Vanderbilt from the 2026 class. With his commitment, Vanderbilt now has the 20th-ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle.

Mgbako started his high school career in New Jersey, where he played for Roselle Catholic. As a freshman, Mgbako averaged a little over 4 points per game. He took a huge step, raising his scoring to over 15 points per game in his sophomore season. In his best game as a sophomore, he had 25 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

After his sophomore year, Mgbako transferred to Oak Hill. There are few stats from his junior year, and the only game MaxPreps has of Mgbako’s junior year was against Mt. Zion Prep Academy, in which he scored 30 points.
