Former Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. will have to make some more room in his trophy case.
Clayton was named the recipient of the Roy F. Kramer Award on Wednesday morning, which is given annually to the top male and female athletes in the Southeastern Conference.
The honor has been handed out to male players annually since 1976. Clayton becomes the 6th Gator to win this award, although 2 Florida greats — Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow — won it twice. Ryan Lochte, Caleb Dressel and Grant Holloway are the other former Florida athletes to take home this honor. That means Clayton is the first men’s basketball player to do so.

Clayton enjoyed an all-time great season for Florida in 2024-25. He became the program’s first-ever consensus All-American this year and helped the Gators to the 2025 National Championship as well.
Clayton averaged more than 18 points and 4 assists per game this season while proving himself as one of the best volume 3-point shooters in the country (39%). Clayton has since moved on to start his pro career. He went 18th overall to the Utah Jazz in last month’s NBA Draft and figures to be a big part of the future plans in the back court.
