Yaxel Lendeborg has been an absolute force since joining the UAB basketball program 2 years ago.

Now, after another successful season in Birmingham, the star Blazers big man is entering the transfer portal. As expected, he’s already drawing a ton of interest from top-tier programs, including a handful of SEC basketball squads.

Per a report from college insider Joe Tipton, Lendeborg has already heard from Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss out of the SEC ranks:

Lendeborg is also entering his name into the NBA Draft, so it remains to be seen if he’ll play in college or the pros in 2025-26. But with the current NIL landscape in college hoops, don’t rule out a transfer.

Here’s a look at Lendeborg’s numbers at UAB the past 2 years after he transferred to the program from the JUCO ranks:

  • 2023-24: 30.1 minutes, 13.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per game
  • 2024-25: 33.6 minutes, 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.7 steals per game

Most mock drafts have Lendeborg as a borderline Round 2 pick at this point. He could impress in the pre-draft process, but if he does end up at a new school this coming season, whoever gets him will be getting one of the best big men in the country.
