2027 DL from Cincinnati commits to Kentucky over Louisville, others

Jaylen Mercer has found a home on the other side of the Ohio River.

Mercer, a defensive lineman from Cincinnati, plans to be a Kentucky Wildcat. On Friday, he announced his verbal commitment to UK.

Out of Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton High School, Mercer is listed at 6-5, 290 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, he is rated 3-stars, the No. 22 prospect in the state of Ohio, No. 51 edge defender and No. 556 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.

Mercer has an impressive list of 31 scholarship offers in his recruitment. Mizzou, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC are among the programs that showed interest.

For Friday’s announcement, Mercer told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that it came down to Kentucky, Louisville and West Virginia. Will Stein‘s program won Mercer’s commitment.
