The Week 6 slate is loaded with big-time matchups, headlined by the primetime meeting between Georgia and Alabama.
Below you’ll find 3 DFS pick ’em predictions for Week 6, including 1 that involves that colossal SEC showdown.
DFS predictions Week 6
All projections are via Underdog this week:
Alabama QB Keelon Russell higher than 8.5 rush attempts
Keelon Russell enters this game averaging a touch over 7 rushing attempts per contest through his first 5 outings. Remember, in college, sacks count as rushing attempts. I think we’ll see Russell have several scrambles or designed runs against Georgia, but he could also be sacked several times to help inflate the number as well. Russell has been sacked multiple times in every SEC game so far and he’s about to face what is perhaps the league’s best defensive front. I think this gets to double digits one way or the other.
West Virginia QB Michael Hawkins Jr. higher than 151.5 passing yards
I was on Michael Hawkins Jr.’s “higher” passing yards last week and I’m going back to the well for this slate. Hawkins has a relatively low passing rate overall (about 21 attempts per game vs. P4 opponents) but has been very efficient with those opportunities this year. He’s been over 9 yards per attempt in 4 of his first 5 games, which I’m counting on to continue this week against Arizona. The Wildcats rank 71st nationally in EPA allowed per drop-back, according to Game on Paper.
LSU RB Dilin Jones lower than 92.5 rushing yards
Dilin Jones has nearly monopolized LSU’s rushing attempts outside of garbage time. There’s no real evidence that the Tigers will continue giving Harlem Berry a significant workload in close games — he only had 1 carry before the 4th quarter in LSU’s most recent SEC contest, though the duo did split time against McNeese last week. While I still expect Jones to get the lion’s share of usage, I think this projection is too high. Jones is also expecting to get ~18.5 carries, which implies a per-rush average of around 5 yards. Jones hasn’t averaged more than 5 yards in a single game this season. If this turns into a blowout because Kentucky’s defense doesn’t hold up, Berry could steal more of Jones’ late-game usage and prevent his yardage from reaching higher than 92.5.
