The LSU Tigers got a dominant win on Saturday night, defeating the Army Black Knights by a score of 62-0.
The Tigers dominated in all phases of the game and improved to 6-2 on the season. Jayden Daniels had another elite performance and the Tigers’ defense had its best performance of the season.
On a day when other ranked teams struggled or outright lost, the Tigers won without any drama. Now, let’s dive into 3 takeaways from the performance:
Jayden Daniels had another near-perfect performance
Daniels finished his night in the 3rd quarter. When not caused by injury, that’s always a good sign. The QB finished the night having completed 11/15 passes for 279 yards and 3 TDs. This is the type of performance the Tigers are growing accustomed to seeing from Daniels.
Daniels will now get extra long rest, as the QB will not play again until November 4 against Alabama. This game will give the Tigers some positive momentum for the home stretch of the season.
The LSU defense had it’s best performance of the season
The Tiger’s defense held the Black Knights to less than 200 total yards of offense. Coming into this weekend, the Tigers sported the No. 112 total defense in the nation.
Against Army, the Tigers forced 4 turnovers and allowed the Black Knights to complete just 6 total passes.
Granted, it’s the Army Black Knights, who had just the No. 104 total offense heading into this matchup. Nevertheless, it’s an encouraging sign when a unit performs exactly how they should.
The LSU rushing attack never got going
Coming into this game, the Tigers sported the No. 11 rushing attack in the nation. The team was averaging 214 yards per game on the ground, but the rushing never got going like expected against the Black Knights.
It’s not like it mattered though, as the Tigers still collected over 500 total yards of offense. Still, it was surprising that the Tigers couldn’t rush for more yards on the ground against the No. 110 rushing defense in Army.
