The SEC doesn’t have any teams in North Carolina (although the SEC Network is based there), but that doesn’t stop the conference from landing some of the state’s top talent.
On Friday, 5-star DE Desmond Evans announced his top-10 teams, and the 2020 recruit has four SEC teams among them.
As you can see below, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida are still in the mix for the elite defender:

Those four SEC programs will compete with Clemson, Duke, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and NC State for Evans’ services.
Per the 247Sports composite, Evans is the No. 2 weakside defensive end in the 2020 class and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of North Carolina.
