5-star 2021 DT Maason Smith has 4 SEC schools among his 8 finalists

Louisiana native Maason Smith is an elite 2021 defensive tackle prospect, and on the Fourth of July, he cut his list of teams to 8.
The highly anticipated top-8 list was sure to feature some big-name programs, and indeed, 4 SEC powers made the cut.
As you can see below, Smith took to Twitter on Saturday to announce that Alabama, LSU, Florida and Georgia were still in the mix for his services:
Those 4 SEC programs will compete with Pac-12 squads Oregon and USC, Big 12 power Oklahoma and Miami of the ACC for Smith’s services in 2021 and beyond.
Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Smith is the No. 20 overall player in the 2021 class, the No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.
