Lane Kiffin and LSU are finalists for a 5-star tight end in the Class of 2027. Ahmad Hudson, considered to be the top tight end in the cycle, will decide between the Tigers and Nebraska in the coming months.

There’s a very specific reason for both of these teams landing in Hudson’s top 2. The 6-6 tight end hails from Ruston, Louisiana, which gives the Tigers an advantage from the outside looking in. However, Nebraska currently holds a commitment from one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2027, Trae Taylor.

Hudson whittled his list down to just 2 after announcing a top 6 of LSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Miami, Mizzou and USC.

247Sports’ composite rankings consider Hudson to be the No. 11 overall prospect in the Class of 2027, as well as the Nio. 3 TE and No. 3 player out of Louisiana, behind only Texas commit Easton Royal and 5-star guard Albert Simien, who is also a major focus for the Tigers.

The addition of Hudson would be a massive win over Kiffin on the recruiting trail. LSU’s class is light for now, but the 2 commits are both 4-star prospects: South Carolina-based edge Jaiden Bryant and Shreveport QB Peyton Houston.
