The Ray Guy Award released its midseason watch list on Thursday, revealing a whopping 63 players in contention for the award as we enter the November slate.

Of course, the Ray Guy Award is given at the end of each season to the top punter in college football. Of the 63 punters on this midseason watch list, 9 hail from the Southeastern Conference. The SEC candidates for the Ray Guy Award include the following:

  • Alex Asparuhov, Alabama
  • Oscar Bird, Ole Miss
  • Alex Clark, Florida
  • Hudson Kaak, Auburn
  • Mason Love, South Carolina
  • Ethan Pulliam, Mississippi State
  • Brunno Reus, Mizzou
  • Jacob Ulrich, Oklahoma
  • Tyler White, Texas A&M

Of the players on this list, Tyler White and Alex Clark probably have the best chance to win the award.

White is in his 3rd season in College Station and has the best punting average in the conference at 49.38 yards per punt. Clark, on the other hand, is in his first season at Florida after starting his career at Marshall and transferring to Tulane, where he followed Jon Sumrall to Gainesville. He’s averaging 48 yards per punt across 3.3 punts per game for the Gators.

Georgia‘s Brett Thorson won the award last year, the first SEC standout to win the award since Kentucky‘s Max Duffy in 2019.
