AAC commissioner Mike Aresco: ‘If you can play, and if you feel like you can do it safely, why not play?’

At the Power 5 level, the ACC, Big 12 and SEC are moving forward with plans to play a fall football season, while the Big Ten and Pac-12 have postponed until the spring semester at the earliest.
In the Group of 5, the MAC and Mountain West have canceled their seasons (with the possibility of playing in the spring), but the AAC, Sun Belt and Conference USA are still exploring options to play this fall.
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Paul Finebaum Show” on the SEC Network, AAC commissioner Mike Aresco said it makes sense to keep moving toward a season if it can be done safely:

Aresco added that if there were new concerns about player health and safety, the league wouldn’t hesitate to shut the season down.
Fortunately for those hoping to see games this fall, it hasn’t gotten to that point yet. We’ll see if Aresco and the AAC can continue to safely practice in the buildup to games.
