Florida’s goal going into Week 6 was to bounce back from a Week 5 loss at Mizzou. The Gators had been clicking up until that point, but fell to 4-1 as they met their match in the Tigers.
With South Carolina in town, it didn’t take Aaron Philo and his team that long to get on the scoreboard.
Facing a third and six from the Gators’ 41-yard line, Philo rolled to the right and delivered a pass to an open Bailey Stockton. The senior took it upfield and outran his defenders for a 59-yard touchdown and a 7-0 Florida lead.

Florida was far from its best against Mizzou. Philo threw for a touchdown but recorded just 197 yards. The big stat line, though, was the running game. The Gators ended the evening with just 42 yards on 25 carries. Jadan Baugh was limited to 13 yards on 12 touches. Meanwhile, the Tigers’ Jamal Roberts went off for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
Week 6’s opponent, the Gamecocks, are in a much tougher position, entering the day with a 0-3 mark in SEC play. The Gators are hoping to add to their misery and, at least early on, look well positioned to do so.
