The ACC is catching up with the rest of the country in terms of mandatory status reports for multiple sports. The Big Ten began the practice a couple of years ago, and the SEC followed suit last season.
On Tuesday, ACC commissioner Jim Phillips announced during ACC Media Days that the league will introduce mandatory status reports in football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball. Those reports are specifically required for ACC contests.
Initial status reports will be issued 2 days before a league game with final updates issued on gameday. All status reports will also be published via the official ACC website.
“In the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball, as well as baseball, the ACC will implement a player availability reporting policy for each conference game,” said Phillips. “In football, an institution will submit an availability report two days before each league game with updates one day before and on game day. All submitted reports will be publicly available on theACC.com. This decision is directly connected to our ongoing commitment to best protect our student-athletes… “
