Missouri star running back Ahmad Hardy shared a heartfelt message with Mizzou fans on Wednesday as he begins his recovery.

Earlier this month, Hardy was shot while attending a concert in Mississippi. He’s since been discharged from the hospital and is back in Columbia with the goal of returning to full strength ahead of the 2026 season.

In his message to fans, Hardy thanked the Mizzou faithful for their messages of support since the shooting.

“I’m starting the road to my rehab,” Hardy said. “I want to thank everybody for all the support and all your prayers. Thank everybody for everything and I’m back to the road to success.”

Eli Drinkwitz told reporters on Tuesday that it will be “several weeks” before Mizzou has a firm timeline on Hardy’s return to play.

โ€œThereโ€™s some internal healing that has to occur before we get to any type of strenuous activities which would then dictate a timeline on his return,” Drinkwitz said.

When healthy, Hardy is one of the nation’s best running backs. He rushed for 1,649 yards in 2025 and was a Doak Walker Award finalist.
