College GameDay has gotten accustomed to flyovers during its appearances. The famous pregame show had military flyovers in Austin, TX and Oxford, MS the past two weekends. Saturday, they received a third straight plane overhead, but this one was unique.
With fans packing the place early, Neyland Stadium bore witness to Air Force one flying over as President Donald Trump traveled to take in today’s Texas Longhorns–Tennessee Volunteers battle.
President Trump has attended a handful of football games during his presidencies, including the 2018 and 2020 College Football Playoff National Championships. He has been to plenty of all-SEC affairs, including the 2019 matchup in Tuscaloosa between the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. In 2024, Trump watched Iowa and Iowa State play for the Cy-Hawk Trophy and Clemson face South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl.
Texas and Tennessee have played in football just three times, none of which have taken place since 1968. The Longhorns, with victories in 1952 and 1968, lead the series 2-1 over the Vols, whose lone win came in 1950. Today’s meeting is the first between the two programs as SEC peers.
