The No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide made the trek over to Starkville on Saturday for a ranked SEC showdown with massive implications against the No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Crimson Tide secondary had struggled at times giving up explosive plays coming into the game, and they were going to need all hands on deck to slow down Kamario Taylor and the rest of the Bulldogs offense.

That talented secondary took a massive blow in the second quarter when junior defensive back Red Morgan was forced to head to the locker room after suffering an apparent injury.

An Alabama native, Morgan has been with the Tide since he joined the program out of high school as a 4-star recruit in the 2024 cycle. He burst onto the scene in 2025 as a true sophomore, emerging as a leader for defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.

He’s followed that up by becoming one of the top corners in the country through 4 weeks in 2026, racking up a couple of interceptions and a pick six to go along with 11 total tackles heading into the game against Mississippi State.

Morgan is a leader for the Tide in the secondary, so losing him for the game against a lethal Bulldogs’ passing attack would be less than ideal for Kalen DeBoer heading into the second half.
