Alabama defensive end Jordan Renaud was part of Nick Saban’s 2023 recruiting class, as he was considered one of the country’s top edge rushing recruits.
After three seasons with the Crimson Tide, though, Renaud is in the portal. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer reported the news of Renaud’s decision on Tuesday.
Renaud, who is from Tyler, Texas, was a prized recruit in the 2023 cycle. He ranked as the No. 10 edge rusher and the No. 60 overall player in the country on 247Sports’ Composite when he signed with Alabama over Oklahoma.
However, things haven’t quite panned out as hoped for Renaud in Tuscaloosa. After redshirting his 2023 season after appearing in two games, he has totaled just 32 tackles and 3.0 tackles for a loss over the past two seasons, including half a sack in 2024.
With two seasons of eligibility remaining, he has now apparently decided to enter the portal. That makes him the 21st Crimson Tide player to do so during this transfer cycle. Outside of Renaud, three of those players have yet to announce a decision for 2026. Wide receiver Aeryn Hampton, a four-star recruit in 2024, left the program in August before officially entering the portal. Running back Richard Young and cornerback Cam Calhoun are also undecided.
