Alabama’s loss to Georgia in Week 6 doesn’t do serious damage to its College Football Playoff hopes. Still, it’s not quite the situation the Crimson Tide want to find themselves in.
The Tide won’t have long to lick their wounds. Their next game is the Third Saturday in October against Tennessee in Knoxville โ where Alabama has dropped its last two games. Even with the loss, defensive lineman Devan Thompkins, who had six tackles against the Bulldogs, knows there’s plenty of road left.
“We gotta hold our heads high. It’s still early in the season. Anything can happen. Like I said, we just gotta keep battling, keep our heads down,” Thompkins said.
Thompkins vowed that the Tide would bounce back from the loss, a game that was 17-17 heading into the third quarter before Peyton Woodring’s 23-yarder with 5:25 remaining put the Dawgs up for good. The Tide were forced to punt on their ensuing possession with 3:10 to go but never got the ball back again, as Georgia was able to run the clock out thanks in part to a Dijon Lee penalty that gave it a fresh set of downs just before the two-minute timeout.
“We don’t know what’s gonna happen, how this whole season gonna pan out. So this ain’t the end of us that you’re gonna see of us, best believe that,” Thompkins said.
