Alabama exacts revenge on Florida State behind Keelon Russell’s impressive outing

Revenge is sweet.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are 3-0 on the season after taking down Florida State on Saturday evening, 50-36. The Crimson Tide started slow but used a strong second half to exact some revenge on Mike Norvell and the Seminoles in front of a home crowd.
As alluded to, things were looking a little rough for Alabama to start this one. Florida State, led by former Auburn QB Ashton Daniels, leapt out of the gate to take a 21-6 lead nearing the end of the second half. However, Alabama QB Keelon Russell found Cederian Morgan for a crucial touchdown just before the game went into a weather delay, Alabama trailing 21-13.
Perhaps Kalen DeBoer talked some sense into his guys. Perhaps the weather delay just gave Alabama an opportunity to reorient themselves. However you want to look at it, Alabama came out with a completely different energy in the second half.
It starts with Russell, who completed a 46-yard touchdown pass just seconds after the game restarted. Alabama’s defense then forced a 3-and-out and Russell led another touchdown drive, giving Alabama a 26-21 lead.
Alabama scored on every remaining possession, including a 57-yard touchdown jaunt by Russell to put the Seminoles to bed. For the day, Russell finished 23-of-30 for 320 yards, 3 touchdowns and zero turnovers.
Folks, Russell just keeps getting better and better. For the day, Alabama put up 569 total yards of offense with zero turnovers and 26 first downs compared to FSU’s 18. Alabama started 1-for-7 on 3rd down, but finished 3-for-4 while converting both 4th down attempts.
