Alabama fans furious with Ryan Grubb, offensive performance in 1st half vs. Georgia
Alabama fans are not happy with the Crimson Tide’s offense in the SEC Championship Game.
Georgia shut down Alabama in the first half, holding Ty Simpson to 5-of-12 passing for just 53 yards. The result: a 14-0 lead at halftime for the Bulldogs.
Simpson also threw an interception in the first half — a mistake Georgia cashed in on for its second touchdown of the game. Georgia scored 14 points in total off of Alabama miscues before the break.
Third down was a major issue for the Crimson Tide in the first half. They went just 1-for-5 on third down before the break — a stark contrast from their 13-of-19 performance on third down in Athens earlier this season.
Overall, Alabama averaged just 3.3 yards per play in the first half. Alabama has only averaged under 4 yards per play for a full game all season and that came last week in its win over Auburn.
Alabama fans are, of course, not happy with Simpson or offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after the first half. Alabama needs to win this game in order to ensure a place in the College Football Playoff.
