Alabama football just landed a commitment from Class of 2027 wide receiver Cedrick Simmons, who just a few weeks ago announced that he would be attending Auburn.
Now, it seems as if Simmons will be headed to Tuscaloosa following a junior season that rivaled any in Alabama high school football. Simmons hails from Selma High School and hauled in 106 passes for 2,192 receiving yards — the No. 1 mark in the state of Alabama. In addition, Simmons totaled 20 touchdown receptions, 34 tackles and 7 interceptions, including a pair of defensive touchdowns.
Talk about dominance.
Standing at 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, Simmons is incredibly shifty with a knack for making defenders miss after the catch. He’s also creative and does a little bit of everything for SHS, including some snaps as a passer and running back in addition to defensive reps.
Simmons is flying under the radar as far as national rankings are concerned. The Alabama pledge is considered to be the No. 588 overall prospect in the country, as well as the No. 39 ATH and No. 24 player out of the state of Alabama.
He marks Alabama’s 14th commitment of the 2027 cycle and is the second wide receiver to commit, joining 4-star WR Osani Gayles.
