Alabama football loses commitment from 4-star athlete in 2027

Alabama is now down a recruit in its still-impressive 2027 recruiting class. 4-star ATH Alexander Ward is decommitting from Alabama and opening back up for recruitment, according to Rivals.

The 6-foot-1 Ward out of IMG Academy is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the No.14 ATH in the nation and the No. 27 prospect from Florida. Alexander currently hold offers from programs including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and Colorado.

Ward initially committed to Alabama in November 2024.

Ward began his high school career in Marietta, Georgia before transferring to IMG Academy. During his sophomore season at Marietta Walton, Ward tallied 9 receptions for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns while also having 18 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, a sack, and 2 interceptions defensively.

Alabama’s Class of 2027 is currently ranked No. 7 nationally according to 247Sports. There’s 3 in-state players rated as 4-star prospects that are pledged to the Crimson Tide at the moment.

Meanwhile on the field, No. 4 Alabama is on a 6-game winning streak after losing its season-opener vs. Florida State. Next up for Alabama is a road matchup at South Carolina on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET/ABC). Alabama leads the all-time series 12-4 vs. South Carolina.
