Alabama-Georgia could face ‘nightmare’ prospect due to potential hurricane, per meteorologist

Alabama vs. Georgia is set to be one of the biggest games of the college football season.
A possible tropical threat could shake things up, though.
While there are still a number of question marks, there is the potential of a hurricane — which would be called Isaias — making landfall in Mobile Bay on Saturday morning. If that happens, the likelihood of the game being played at Bryant-Denny Stadium is very slim.
“The idea of moving the game, it’s on the table,” meteorologist James Spann said in an interview with AL.com’s Michael Casagrande. “I’m saying it’s clearly on the table. It would be a nightmare for everybody involved.”
Spann mentioned several other events that could be affected, including a Zach Bryan concert at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday and the National Shrimp Festival scheduled from Thursday to Sunday in Gulf Shores, Ala. President Trump is also scheduled to attend the Alabama-Georgia game.
Again, things could change. Tuscaloosa might not even be in the path of the storm. But it’s up to the SEC to decide on a contingency plan if Isaias makes its way toward the city.
“I’m hoping the thing, maybe it’s a weaker tropical storm and the core of it passes east of (Alabama),” Spann said. “Or maybe it waits until Sunday, maybe it slows down and the rain holds off until Sunday. That’s on the table.”
Alabama–Georgia is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
