Alabama lands commitment from highly-recruited OL out of Georgia
Alabama added a big-time offensive tackle recruit to its 2026 recruiting class on Friday afternoon.
The Crimson Tide earned a commitment from Bear Fretwell, who was previously committed to Georgia Tech. Fretwell earned an Alabama offer on July 5 — just a few weeks after he initially committed to the Yellow Jackets.
Fretwell shared the news of his commitment with Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Friday afternoon:

Fretwell’s recruitment has picked up in recent weeks. He also earned a Florida State offer in July, so top programs are clearly taking notice of his talent ahead of his senior season.
Fretwell is currently regarded as a 3-star prospect. He’s the No. 622 overall player and the No. 55 offensive tackle in the country for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings. However, it’s possible he will see a rankings boost in the coming months after scouts are able to get another look at his development.
Fretwell is listed at 6-foot-7, so he has excellent size to play the tackle position in the SEC. He attends Southeast Bulloch High School in Brooklet, Georgia.
Alabama is now up to 21 commitments in the class of 2026. The Tide’s class is headlined by a group of 5-star recruits. They currently rank No. 3 in the country behind Georgia and USC, but the Crimson Tide could climb even further up the rankings before the Early Signing Period in December.
