Alabama lands commitment from offensive linemen, former top-50 recruit
Alabama just picked up some more reinforcements for its offensive line in 2026.
The Crimson Tide have earned a commitment from former Michigan offensive lineman Ty Haywood. A former top prospect in the class of 2025, Haywood projects to have a high ceiling and could make a big impact for Alabama in 2026 as a redshirt freshman.
His commitment was first reported by On3 on Monday afternoon:
Haywood was a high-end 4-star recruit in the class of 2025. He was the No. 39 overall player and the No. 6 offensive tackle in the nation for that cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Now, he’ll join an Alabama team that’s looking to shore up its offensive line in 2026. The Crimson Tide struggled up front at times this year, particularly in their Rose Bowl loss to Indiana earlier this month. Haywood could potentially help Alabama as early as next season.
According to Pro Football Focus, Haywood only played 15 snaps for the Wolverines in 2025. He will have 4 years of eligibility remaining when he joins Alabama.
Haywood is the second Michigan offensive lineman to transfer to Alabama so far this offseason, joining Kaden Strayhorn. Overall, the Crimson Tide have now added 8 players via the transfer portal this cycle.
