A likely dynamic duo on the Alabama defense this season will be Will Anderson Jr. alongside Tennessee transfer Henry To’o To’o.

On Tuesday, Anderson spoke with the media about this season, and shared his thoughts on his new teammate.

“Henry To’oto’o has been great,” he said, per Roger Hoover. “He communicates a lot. If you do something wrong, he’ll step on your toes about it. He knows the defense as well. He’s a great leader and great player.”

Added LB Christian Harris, “Henry To’oto’o came in and worked. When you see that, you just want to come in and work. He’s done a really great job and is pushing everybody.

To’o To’o is one of the best transfers within in the SEC in recent memory.

At Tennessee, he played in 23 games and made 22 starts during his two-year stint on Rocky Top. He led the Vols with 76 tackles and 10 tackles for loss, which was tied for fourth in the SEC. As a freshman in 2019, he started 12 games at linebacker and made 72 tackles, which ranked second among SEC freshmen and fourth among FBS freshmen.

Defensive coordinator Pete Golding shared on Sunday at a press conference that To’o To’o stands out among transfers he’s coached.

โ€œWe brought in a transfer that I think from a leadership standpoint, [itโ€™s] above and beyond, obviously from a transfer standpoint that Iโ€™ve ever had,โ€ Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding said on Sunday. โ€œI think the familiarity, obviously, that heโ€™s already had with this defense, coming where heโ€™s from, I think has been good for us as well.โ€
