Georgia and Alabama are in the midst of a potential instant-classic in Tuscaloosa.
With a potential AP No. 1 ranking on the line, the Crimson Tide lead the Bulldogs 14-10 at the half.
Despite the low score, it was a very eventful first 30 minutes of play. Both teams turned the ball over once, but there were 3 other fumbles — all recovered by Georgia.
Georgia‘s lone touchdown drive came on a 93-yard drive that featured 2 explosive passing plays from Gunner Stockton. The Bulldogs found the end zone on a 20-yard pass to London Humpreys:
That score put Georgia up 10-0 midway through the second quarter, but Alabama was able to quickly respond. The Crimson Tide marched right down the field and scored on a 22-yard touchdown pass to Marshall Pritchett.
Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell struggled in the first half. He completed just 11 of 22 passes for 119 yards and lost a fumble. Russell did find a grove late in the quarter as he led the Tide on a go-ahead drive in the final minute of the half.
Facing 3rd down with just 3 seconds left in the half, Alabama opted to go for it — and that choice was rewarded as EJ Crowell bounced a run outside and won a foot race to the pylon to give Alabama its first lead of the night.
Alabama has not lost to Georgia in Tuscaloosa since 2007.
