Alabama had one of its recruits deliver a huge game Friday night in a playoff game in Louisiana.
When Destrehan defeated Ponchatoula 48-34, Kyle Edwards delivered five touchdowns in the game. Edwards committed about three months ago when he became commitment No. 23. The 6 foot, 220 pound running back is a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports. Edwards picked Alabama over Michigan and Penn State.
Edwards had 233 yards and accounted for all for all but 86 yards of the Wildcatsโ rushing yardage and all but 135 yards of the teamโs total offense. He scored on runs of 11, 1, 40, 32 and 93 yards, according to NOLA.com.
โI work hard in practice and so does my O-line,โ said Edwards, who took some good-natured ribbing this week after LSUโs victory over Alabama. โI really canโt do it without them. Whenever I get in a big game, everybodyโs blocking down the field. You guys donโt see that, so I have to give a big shoutout to them.โ
