Alabama running back Ezavier Crowell has a chance to be the Crimson Tide’s next great player at the position.

Right now, though, one of the country’s premier signings from the 2026 class is getting adjusted to college life after enrolling early at the university. But there was one more high school accolade to collect.

Crowell on Tuesday learned that he had been named the state of Alabama’s Mr. Football for the 2025 season. He was in Montgomery, the state capital, to accept the award.

“It just gave me chills. A little shock went through my body,” Crowell told WSFA-TV’s Rosie Langello-Hughes.

Crowell was a finalist for the state’s Back of the Year in 2024 but was beaten out by Landon Duckworth, his high school teammate who signed with South Carolina. This time, he won the big prize. Current Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams is a two-time winner, while Julio Jones and Kool Aid McKinstry are among former Tide players to have won it.

“It means a lot to follow in their footsteps,” Crowell said. “Like (Williams) told me today, he said I better win. So I came here and I won it.”

Crowell totaled 2,632 yards and 35 touchdowns as a senior.
