Alabama releases updated injury report for Week 2 game against Kentucky

Alabama opens its 2026 SEC schedule on Saturday, as it travels to Kentucky for a Week 2 matchup at Kroger Field in Lexington.
One new name has been ruled out, according to the Crimson Tide’s injury report released on Thursday night. That’s cornerback Zyan Gibson, as the true freshman joins Nick Sherman and Jorden Edmonds on the list of defensive backs who won’t play against the Wildcats.
Wide receiver Noah Rogers, linebacker Cayden Jones, and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman were already listed as out. There are no changes to the statuses of offensive lineman Michael Carroll, who is doubtful, or running back AK Dear and defensive back Jireh Edwards, who remain questionable.
Alabama‘s Week 1 two-deep depth chart against East Carolina had Zabien Brown and Dijon Lee as starters, with Gibson and Mercer transfer Carmelo O’Neal behind them. Gibson didn’t appear in the game, while O’Neal recorded a special teams tackle.
Carroll, who switched from right tackle to right guard in the offseason, was an All-SEC second-team preseason pick. If he is unable to play against the Wildcats, Ethan Fields, his backup against ECU, could potentially step in. Fields is a true freshman.
Alabama kicks off against Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. ET.
