Alabama reveals injury details for 2 defenders to miss South Carolina game

Alabama will battle South Carolina for the second straight season Saturday, with the teams entering this weekend’s contest on opposite trajectories.
The Crimson Tide have overcome some sluggish starts to earn double-digit wins in each of their first 3 games, while the Gamecocks relinquished an early 16-0 lead and were largely outclassed by Mississippi State last week.
Thus, the visitors are a sizable underdog in this one, but some injuries to the Alabama defense may even the playing field a bit.
As 247’s Mike Rodak reported, Alabama announced through its NIL entity ‘Yea Alabama’ that linebacker Justin Hill is “expected to miss a few weeks” with a lower-body ailment while fellow linebacker Desmond Umeozulu’s status is up in the air as he works to overcome turf toe. Each player was injured during the Tide’s 50-36 win over Florida State last week.

Both Hill and Umeozulu are depth pieces of the Alabama defense, with the former having tallied 6 total tackles and 1 sack while the latter has tacked on 6 more tackles.
But against a dynamic athlete like LaNorris Sellers at quarterback, having every linebacker at your disposal is advisable considering the amount of pursuit that position group will have to do Saturday.
The Gamecocks and Crimson Tide will kick off at 7 p.m. ET, with the game being broadcast by ESPN.
