Alabama’s win over Kentucky was largest Tide comeback victory in over 3 decades

It took a bit, but Alabama eventually found its footing in Lexington on Saturday, scoring 32 unanswered points in the second half after trailing Will Stein’s Kentucky side, 17-13, at halftime.
And while the Crimson Tide faithful may grumble about his close the contest initially was, Kalen DeBoer’s group did set an impressive team record with the end result.
Alabama’s 28-point win became the program’s largest in a game where it had trailed at the half in over 3 decades (since SEC expansion in 1992).
The night-and-day difference between the 2 halves of football can’t be understated, as Alabama managed to overcome some first-half turnovers and a raucous crowd to start SEC play with a comfortable victory.
Meanwhile, Stein will be left wondering about what could’ve been after his team held a lead over a blue-blood program in his first SEC game and just his second contest as a head coach overall.
Now, the Crimson Tide will hope to put a complete game together and save its second-half comebacks for a different time when Florida State visits Tuscaloosa this week. After the Seminoles stunned DeBoer’s 2025 team in the opener last year, revenge will be on the minds of Alabama’s players and fans this weekend.
