Alex Golesh comments on one-sided loss to LSU: ‘There’s no silver lining’
Alex Golesh didn’t hold back on Saturday afternoon during the postgame press conference.
His Auburn team got shellacked, at home, on ABC, so a national TV audience saw the Tigers get dominated by No. 18 LSU in their own house. Jordan-Hare Stadium didn’t have much to cheer about in a Week 8 whitewashing, with the road Tigers earning a 38-17 victory.
Auburn dropped to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the SEC, while LSU showed it was the far better Tigers in improving to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The game was ugly, with the numbers to match it, if you’re an Auburn fan. LSU outgained Auburn, 552-271, with Sam Leavitt carving up the Tigers secondary while LSU rushed for 165 yards. LSU had way more first downs, 29-16, and had the ball way more, too, outdoing Auburn in time of possession by more than 7 minutes.

Auburn didn’t have a turnover, so there was that, but the Tigers also didn’t force any LSU turnovers, so there was that, too.
That brings us back to Golesh, who held court with reporters afterward and didn’t hold back.
“That was a really, really, really bad performance on both sides,” Alex Golesh said. “There’s no silver lining, no anything. That was bad in every imaginable way.”
With Auburn falling hard at home on Saturday, the clock is ticking on the 2026 season for the Tigers to gather more wins. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Auburn’s potential victory total for this season:
