Alyssa Lang not on air for ESPN after ‘scary’ car accident

ESPN’s Alyssa Lang has taken on a new role as a studio host for the network’s college football coverage. But Lang, who has been with the network since 2018, wasn’t on the air during Week 3.
On Thursday evening, Lang revealed that it was due to injuries sustained after a “scary (car) accident.”
“Thankfully, I was very lucky — walked away with just some bruises and a concussion,” Lang wrote on social media when asked why she wasn’t on the air.
Fortunately, as she said on social media, Lang is on the mend and will be back in studio for ESPN’s Week 4 games.
“Will use this as a reminder for folks to please drive safely and pay attention, because things can change in an instant,” she added.
According to ESPN, Lang joined the network as part of the SEC Network team, co-hosting the show Out of Pocket for four years while serving as one of the hosts of the network’s flagship SEC Now. She was also primarily on the college football sidelines but served as a reporter for the network’s coverage of college basketball, baseball, and softball.
After Matt Barrie became the host of SEC Nation after Laura Rutledge left the program after nine seasons, Lang was named to Barrie’s college football studio host role.
