Amari McNeill decided to leave the Tennessee program after spending the first few years of his college career there. McNeill went public with his next stop on Thursday.
McNeill will be playing for Deion Sanders at Colorado in 2023. McNeill played in 6 games for the Volunteers from 2021-2022. McNeill recorded 3 total tackles and 1 pass deflection during those years.
McNeill confirmed the news by making a post on his Twitter account.

McNeill didn’t start off on the defensive side of the ball originally. He was a 3-star OT coming out of Peachtree Ridge in Sewanee, Georgia per the 247Sports Composite. McNeill was the No. 69 player at his position and No. 72 prospect from Georgia in the 2021 class.
At 6-foot-4, 285 pounds his size could prove useful while at Boulder. McNeill will be joining a Colorado program that has seen a lot of players enter the transfer portal lately. More than 20 players left the program after Saturday’s spring game.
McNeill is one of the rare cases of a player committing to the Buffaloes recently.
Tennessee and Colorado had two very different seasons. The Volunteers won 11 games for the first time since 2001, while the Buffaloes finished 2022 with a 1-11 record.
Sanders will be hoping to change the culture at Colorado and put the Buffaloes on a winning trajectory.
