Andrew Savaiinaea, elite 2022 pass rusher out of Washington, commits to SEC program

Andrew Savaiinaea did not waste any time to announce his college choice following a visit to Billy Napier’s Florida Gators.

Savaiinaea, a 6-foot-3, 258-pounder, committed to Florida after he had offers from a flurry of Pac-12 programs, including are Oregon, UCLA, California, Washington State and Oregon State. He is from Graham, Washington (Graham-Kapowsin), and is rated a 3-star defensive lineman. Savaiinaea is the No. 113 defensive lineman in this class, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 13 player in the state of Washington.

Co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney made contact shortly before the New Year, and asked the West Coast native to send additional film in hopes of eventually securing a visit date, Gators Online reported. From there, Savaiinaea continued to build on that relationship and journeyed over to the Swamp this weekend. Now, the 2022 prospect is slated to sign with the Gators on Feb. 2.

For an update on the recruiting class, Savaiinaea’s addition means the Gators have 3 players along the defensive line. Chris McClellan and Jamari Lyons have already signed, and McClellan is enrolled in Gainesville.

Florida’s class is ranked No. 13 in the SEC and No. 33 in the country, as it stands 9 days from signing day, according to 247Sports.
